General Info

Located at No. 18, Street 306 corner 51, Phnom Penh 12000, Cambodia, Dakshin's Restaurant Phnom Penh feels like a comfortable neighborhood spot where Indian flavors are taken seriously but the atmosphere stays relaxed. From the moment you step in, the setting invites you to slow down, settle into your seat, and enjoy a proper meal rather than a rushed bite.

The menu leans confidently into classic South Indian and Indian comfort dishes, and that confidence shows in every plate. One of the most talked-about combinations here is the Naan and Chicken Curry. The naan arrives warm and soft, perfect for scooping up the rich, spiced curry that tastes balanced rather than overpowering. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation because you don’t want to miss a bite.

Another standout is the Fish Head Curry, a bold and hearty option that regulars often mention in reviews. The curry is layered with deep flavors and pairs well with rice, making it a satisfying choice for dinner. For something more traditional and hands-on, the Banana Leaf Rice offers a full experience, with textures and spices working together in a way that feels authentic and comforting. Snacks like the Samosa are crisp and flavorful, while the Lamb Sukha brings a drier, spiced profile that adds variety to the menu.

Beyond the food, Dakshin’s also delivers on drinks and service. Great coffee is available for those who like to linger after their meal, and cocktails are on hand if you’re easing into the evening. The seating is comfortable, making it easy to enjoy a long dinner with friends or family. Because the restaurant tends to fill up, especially during dinner hours, reservations are recommended to avoid waiting.

Overall, the experience at Dakshin’s Restaurant Phnom Penh feels genuine and well thought out. The combination of flavorful dishes, attentive service, and a welcoming location makes it a reliable choice for anyone exploring Indian cuisine in the city. Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxed dinner or meeting others over coffee and cocktails, the atmosphere encourages you to stay, eat well, and enjoy the moment.

What customers say?

“ Absolutely wonderful! Firstly the decor is very pleasing and welcoming. Secondly All the food items we ordered were top class. The preparation and presentation were both excellent. Found totally authentic Indian taste outside India which is very rare. We had Masala Dosa, Uttapam, Chicken Chettinad, Dal Tadka, Kerala Parota, Mix raita, Salad, Tandoori Chicken Tikka and payasam. Each item was exceptionally delicious. Would totally recommend trying out this restaurant! ”

“ The best part of this restaurant is the atmosphere. It is clean and large, the food is prepared within eyesight. However, portions are far too small and value for money is just not there. Still, a nice place to entertain guests because it is one of the better and cleaner Indian restaurants in Phnom Penh. The owner is very passionate and friendly of Singaporean origin. ”

“ Must-Visit Indian Restaurant in Cambodia If you’re craving authentic Indian food in Cambodia Dakshin is the place to go. Whether you love North Indian or South Indian cuisine, this restaurant has something for everyone. Indians will absolutely feel at home with the flavors, and even foreigners who enjoy Indian food will love it—especially because the spice level is completely customizable. The chef and staff are very attentive; they actually ask how spicy you want your dish, which makes the experience even better. You can enjoy the true taste of Indian cuisine without worrying about the food being too spicy. The taste is excellent, the portion sizes are generous, and overall it’s great value for money. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy delicious, authentic Indian flavors in Cambodia! ”

“ Really very good service and tasty foods. Especially their rice + curd+ mango pickle must must try… One Tamil boy working there (forgot his name ) from Perambalur district was very friendly with customers and served with smile . Fish gravy is very authentic like Tamil cuisine Now I am missing the hotel and the atmosphere ”

“ This restaurant is flawless—impeccably clean, with food and presentation that are nothing short of exceptional. Their flagship branch in Siem Reap sets the gold standard, and this one lives up to it beautifully. ”

- LKY -

“ Great food and wonderful service. The background music being played at the Restaurant was soothing and we loved the incredible time we spent at this facility on the occasion of my wife’s birthday! The restaurant is a bit expensive and the portion served seemed a bit less (of course as compared to the portion/quantity served at the South Indian restaurants in India). Dakshin is located at a nice location in BKK1 area and has a feeling of warmth. We met the owner too who hails from Singapore and uses spices produced in Singapore. ”

“ Absolutely fantastic Indian food, easily one of the best in Phnom Penh. Every dish was full of authentic flavour, rich aroma, and cooked to perfection. You can really taste the passion that goes into the food here. The service was just as impressive. The team is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Special mention to the owner, Mr. Pannir, truly a lovely man. His hospitality, kindness, and genuine care for every customer make the experience even better. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant, and it shows in every detail. ”
